The ridge cap (external) covers the joints between the roof panels at the ridge of a gable roof from the outside, i.e. where the two roof slopes meet at their highest point. It protects this joint from rain and wind and provides a neat finish to the roof at the ridge. Thanks to its adjustable angle, it adapts to the roof pitch.

The ridge cap (external) is used wherever two sloping roof surfaces meet at the ridge. Typical applications include:

• Covering the external panel joints at the ridge on gable roofs
• Upper, external finish where two roof surfaces meet
• Weather protection for the ridge joint against rain and wind
• A neat, visual finish at the highest point of the roof

The profile is made of 0.75 mm thick galvanised sheet steel with a 25 µm PE coating and is available in the colours RAL 7016, 8012, 9002, 9006 and 9007. The adjustable angle from 0° to 180° allows it to be adapted to the roof pitch.

The ridge cap (external) is the right choice for covering the ridge joint on a gable roof. It is usually installed together with the internal ridge cap, which seals the joint from below. The external ridge cap is installed together with roof panels. Suitable products:

• Roof panels in the desired thickness, such as the 40 mm roof panel or the 60 mm roof panel. You can find the full range under ‘Sandwich panels – Roof’.
• The internal ridge cap as a counterpart for the underside of the ridge seam: Internal ridge cap.
• Screws for fixing the edge profiles, such as the 7550 screw, which is specifically designed for edge profiles.

Do I need both the external and internal ridge flashings?

Generally speaking, yes. The external ridge cap covers the ridge seam from above, whilst the internal ridge cap seals it from below. Together, they provide a watertight, neat ridge finish on a gable roof.

How does the ridge cap differ from the monopitch ridge cap?

The ridge cap (external) is designed for a gable roof, where two roof slopes meet at the ridge. The single-slope ridge cap, on the other hand, finishes off the upper edge of a single-slope roof. The choice depends on the roof shape.

Does the profile suit any roof pitch?

The angle can be adjusted from 0° to 180°, so the profile suits any ridge pitch. For special connection scenarios, we’ll advise you on the appropriate design.

In what lengths and colours is the profile available?

The profile is available in lengths of 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 metres, as well as in the colours RAL 7016, 8012, 9002, 9006 and 9007. We manufacture lengths of 2.5 metres or more on request.
